Crossing the finish line. Scoring a point. Celebrating with the team. Special Olympics Southern California (SOSC) is dedicated to moments such as these, because it is through these moments our athletes find strength, success, confidence, and joy. SOSC volunteers help make moments like these. Volunteer Group Liaisons help outreach to dedicated service clubs and groups like National Charity League, Knights of Columbus, church groups, and more. The more we can engage these groups and clubs, the richer our competitions and events will be.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify group/club leader and establish connection
- Present a list of upcoming volunteer activities and ways to get involved for the year/season
- With support from SOSC personnel, make presentations to groups as needed
- Assist with questions regarding registration and special projects
- Connect group with desired volunteer opportunity or project
- Be the SOSC liaison to the group

The mission of Special Olympics Southern California is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community. Our vision is to promote acceptance, inclusion, and wellbeing for people with intellectual disabilities through sports.
