Would you like to become a friend to a hospice patient? You can read, have conversations, hold their hand, or simply just be a presence when they really need someone near. There is a lot of flexibility with this opportunity because activities really vary with the relationship and what the patient is capable of doing. Some of the best times have been playing bingo or coloring!
We are very flexible with your schedule. If you prefer to visit one patient at a time, multiple in one building, or to travel we can work that all out. You can also let me know if you feel comfortable visiting in a patient’s home or only at facilities. Our volunteers make their own schedule. Many volunteers visit once a month while others may volunteer multiple times a week. We do ask that you attempt to be able to visit the same amount of times each month. We can always increase visits or have someone cover if need be. Everyone creates a huge difference in making sure our patients feel loved.
In order to become a volunteer of Heart to Heart Hospice, the following steps are required:
- Application- Emailed or mailed to you!
- Interview- a short interview must be completed to discuss your interest and availability. This can be completed in person or via telephone.
- Background Check (no charge)
- TB Screening- A TB screening is required upon "hire" along with one TB test annually (no charge).
- Orientation Training- required training must be completed prior to beginning this volunteer opportunity.
