Would you like to become a friend to a hospice patient? You can read, have conversations, hold their hand, or simply just be a presence when they really need someone near. There is a lot of flexibility with this opportunity because activities really vary with the relationship and what the patient is capable of doing.
We are very flexible with your schedule. If you prefer to visit one patient at a time, multiple in one building, or to travel we can work that all out. You can also let me know if you feel comfortable visiting in a patient’s home or only at facilities. Our volunteers make their own schedule. Many volunteers visit once a month while others may volunteer multiple times a week. We do ask that you attempt to be able to visit the same amount of times each month. We can always increase visits or have someone cover if need be. Everyone creates a huge difference in making sure our patients feel loved.
In order to become a volunteer of Heart to Heart Hospice, the following steps are required:
Application
Background check
- Orientation Training- This is usually done in 1 to 2 hours
TB Screening- A TB screening is required upon "hire" along with one TB test annually.
