Volunteer to assist with after school program for low-income youth at Madison@14th!
Do you want to be a positive influence in the lives of children? Volunteer to assist with the after school program for children living at Madison @14th in Oakland. We are looking for a volunteer to assist on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30-5:00. The volunteer will work in conjunction with the Activities Coordinator for Satellite Affordable Housing Associates (SAHA) during the program. The volunteer's tasks will include helping the Activities Coordinator to set up before the program and to clean up afterwards, provide homework help for children, This is a fun opportunity to build volunteer hours, to be a positive influence in the lives of children, and to have a great time!
Requirements: Ongoing SAHA Community Volunteers must commit to volunteer once a week for a minimum of 4 months, and must complete a volunteer orientation, volunteer forms and background screening prior to beginning their placement.

Description
The purpose of the SAHA's Volunteer Program is to improve the quality of living and promote health and well-being for Satellite Housing's residents. Volunteers will help foster community by facilitating activities for the residents, such as exercise groups, art classes, discussion groups, providing health and wellness information, leading or participating in games, assisting with special events, etc. The residents really appreciate the effort that is put forth by the volunteers, and look forward to the weekly interactions.
