Old Port of Bladensburg
Please park in this parking lot for the event.

Note: This event is weather dependent

Date: Saturday, March 30, 2019
Time: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Meeting Location: Old Port of Bladensburg, located at 4418 Baltimore Avenue, Bladensburg, MD 20710. We will meet in the parking lot.

  • The Old Port of Bladensburg (sometimes referred to as Old Bladensburg Port by GPS) can be accessed by car or bus (Metrobus: F8, about a 0.2 mile walk). There is some parking available, but we recommend carpooling to the event. If the GPS leads you to an Auto Parts or Scanlan Fleet Service, keep driving straight until you can take the first left on Tanglewood Drive. Once you take a left you will have to turn left again onto Baltimore Avenue, which is a one way road. Follow this road and look for a sign on the right labeled Old Port of Bladensburg. That is where you will find parking and where we will meet.

Description: Volunteers will help with a Meadow Restoration Workday at the confluence of the Anacostia River to help maintain meadow grassland habitat for pollinators. This will involve removing invasive plant species and seeding in the meadow. We will provide all necessary tools and training for this event.

Physical Requirements: This event will likely involve digging, lifting, bending, and walking for fair distances. Participants will be expected to wear closed-toed shoes for the duration of the event. The event is not suitable for children or those with health issues. If you think any of the physical requirements will be problematic, please let us know.

Registration is required. Please register at least 2 days prior to the event date you chose to volunteer in order to receive additional information regarding proper clothing, etc. REGISTER HERE AT THIS LINK: https://anacostiaws.salsalabs.org/33019meadowrestorationworkday/index.html?page=register

If you have any questions prior to the event, please contact Emily Castelli at ecastelli2@anacostiaws.org or 301-699-6204 ext. 103.
