Be a Hospice Hero!

Come and work with our team to bring comfort and support to families and patients.

ViaQuest recognizes the physical and emotional stress associated with caring for a loved one. Our Hospice supports the need for caregivers to have some respite from the responsibilities associated with caring for a loved one.

ViaQuest volunteers are the heart of our hospice services. They are dedicated and caring people from our community who have the ability to listen sensitively and have an awareness of personal boundaries. Our volunteers undergo a comprehensive training program with an emphasis on compassion and caring with the goal of providing the best assistance to our patients and their caregivers. There is a wide range of opportunities, including assisting patients and their families, providing information, and being a source of encouragement at any point for those who need it.

PATIENT CARE VOLUNTEERS

Volunteers provide emotional support and companionship to patients and their families. They provide respite care so that caregivers can take a break, run errands or take a nap. Some of these services include being available for companionship, listening, simply "being there", sharing a walk, reading books or newspapers, watching television and preparing meals. These volunteers also offer practical support often needed by hospice patients, families, and caregivers. These duties may include picking up needed supplies, light house cleaning, basic yard work or grocery shopping. Volunteers visit patients who reside in nursing homes, assisted living facilities or the patient’s home.

GIFTS IN KIND

Volunteers can share their special talents with patients, such as playing a musical instrument, providing hairstyling or manicure services, sewing/knitting lap blankets (in office), clerical office work or any other special skills.

HOW TO BECOME A VOLUNTEER

The Hospice Volunteer Coordinator schedules routine visits with patients requesting a volunteer. The Coordinator along with the Hospice team will make every effort to find the best volunteer match for each patient.

We would love to have you join our volunteer team!

Mission Statement

ViaQuest Hospice exists to make a difference in every life touched by serious illness. We bring a special kind of care into our patient’s life and the lives of those close to the patient.

Description

ViaQuest is a Veteran-Owned Hospice, Providing comfort to patients and families.

Support for Family Caregivers

One of the biggest benefits of our care is its support for the family caregiver. We bring in an extra layer of care, much needed stress relief and practical support that shares in the caregiving. We also help family caregivers feel in control by providing education on the disease and ensuring they know what to expect and have someone to talk to about what worries them. We’re also here for emotional support and assistance in gaining any needed resources.

Help for Serious Illness

It’s hard to know where to turn for help when facing a serious illness. ViaQuest can improve the quality of life for those living with cancer, COPD and other lung diseases, heart disease, liver or kidney disease, Alzheimer’s, dementia or Parkinson’s. These diseases slowly decrease an individual’s ability to live life to its fullest. There comes a time when seeking a cure may no longer be possible or in one’s best interest and the focus turns to quality of life. When that happens ViaQuest Hospice may be the answer. Our care is not focused on the disease, but on pain relief and symptom control, making it easier for you to keep your focus where it should be - on living more fully.
