Hospice pet therapy

Bella Care Hospice provides compassionate and holistic care during the final stage of someone's life. Volunteers serve an important role in our team by giving their time to provide extra companionship for our patients. We are looking for volunteers who have a certified therapy pet that can visit with our patients to provide comfort.
Many of our patients have a difficult time engaging with people and having conversations, but a visit from a calm and friendly animal can help them to open up emotionally and lift their spirits. Help us bring joy to those who are at the end of life!
Volunteers are required to have their own pet who must be certified through an appropriate organization (Pet Partners, Therapy Dogs International, AKC Therapy Dog Program and Therapy Dogs Incorporated), be current with vaccinations, and pass an assessment for compatibility with specific hospice patients.
In addition, owners are required to go through our normal onboarding and training process for becoming part of our hospice staff. No prior experience is required, we will make sure you are supported and set up for success. Our schedule is also flexible and we will work with you to accommodate your needs.
We'll work with your schedule.
