Greetings!
Care for Friends is seeking groups to volunteer for a day of service on our weekly Corporate Thursdays. What exactly does this mean? If you are looking for an opportunity for your company or business to team build and connect, we would love for you to join us in working with the underserved homeless and vulnerable community in Lincoln Park!
What do we do?
At Care for Friends we provide services for those experiencing homelessness out of Church of Our Savior located at 530 W. Fullerton Parkway. Our main initiative is Food for Friends, where we provide weekly hot meals on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. We also provide necessities such as personal care items, clothes, basic healthcare, and activities for our guests.
We are seeking volunteer teams to prepare, serve, and enjoy a hot meal together. We will provide you with food from our pantry (mainly stocked by the Greater Chicago Food Depository) and a team leader who knows the ins and outs of our kitchen and facility, who will create the menu for you and your colleagues. Preparation begins at 9:00 am. Meal is served from noon until 1:00 pm.
Join a community of folks who love to cook, converse, and serve in their local community. This is an excellent opportunity for people to volunteer in a fun, safe, environment, either on a regular or periodic basis.
We open our doors to anyone who is in need of a hot meal, and are funded by corporate donations, grants, and individual donors, with no government assistance. We ask that corporate groups assist us by donating a suggested $700 for the cost of ongoing operations, or to host a fundraiser to raise these funds for our efforts.

Description
Our flagship program is "Food for Friends" - where we create a safe space for anyone requiring a meal to gather in community for a no-cost hot lunch served in sit-down, family style with dignity and respect.
Other services are available during this gathering time, including haircuts, a health clinic, clothes closet, and toiletries distribution. Additionally, representatives from our various partner organizations begin to make connections with our guests - establishing trusting relationships that will ultimately allow our guests to connect with the services they need to achieve a better quality of life.
