Many ways to help hospice patients in Avon

We are seeking compassionate individuals to volunteer their time to brighten the days of our hospice patients and families. The opportunities are endless and your schedule is entirely up to you. We currently have the following opportunities available:

Companionship Volunteer: Lend an ear, hold a hand, take a stroll, read a book, watch a show, play a game or just be present and let someone know you care about them. This is the backbone of all the following opportunities.

Pet Visitor Volunteer: Do you have a friendly pet that enjoys meeting new people and being adored? We would love to have him/her and you visit our hospice patients and families in a variety of settings. Many of our patients are unable to care for a pet themselves and miss the companionship and love that animals freely give to us.

Pet Therapy Volunteer: If you have a pet that is certified by any American Kennel Club recognized therapy organization we would love for him/her and you to visit our hospice patients and families. The most common requests we receive are for dogs and cats but we welcome other animals!

Music Volunteer: Share your love of music with those who embarking on life’s final journey. Sing, play music, or an instrument at the bedside.

Reiki Volunteer: Share Reiki with our patients and their caregivers to provide comfort during this time. We seek to care for our patients and families not just physically, but spiritually and emotionally as well. We are seeking Reiki Masters as well as Reiki level I and II practitioners. If you have felt called to serve in this way but do not have Reiki training we can discuss training opportunities.
