Volunteer tutors with GoodSkills Literacy Corps will tutor one or more participants in basic literacy, numeracy, and/or basic computing skills.

Tutors will meet with their participant once or twice a week for at least an hour, depending on participant’s choice of pace.
The locations of the tutoring sessions may be determined by the tutor and the participant. For reasons of safety, liability, and personal boundaries, tutors are discouraged from giving rides to participants. Tutors will not share private information about participants without written consent.
Tutors are required to call the participant the first time the participant does not attend an appointment. After the initial absence, calling the participant is up to the discretion of the tutor. The tutor must immediately contact an AmeriCorps member if any issues occur.
Tutors will treat participants with propriety, respect, and professionalism at all times. Tutors who fail to abide by these boundaries may be penalized and will be considered for dismissal.
Tutors will be loaned one or more instruction books during the program. All loaned material-including LitStart and other books from the GoodSkills library-must be returned in good condition upon the end of the tutor’s term of service.
Volunteer tutors commit to tutoring with GoodSkills Literacy Corps for a minimum of six months.
