Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts

One Musical Philadelphia explores the unique American art form of musical theater while building community and encouraging teamwork. The program begins with an introductory workshop for 5th graders scheduled during the school day. Then, students self-select to participate in a 8-week residency to learn songs and dances from a show selected by the Kimmel Center. Participants then share the routines with classmates during in-school assemblies, with support provided by the Kimmel. Finally, buses bring students and their families to the Kimmel Center Cultural Campus for an awesome event on Tuesday, January 7. Students from schools across the region come together to perform their production numbers in one unforgettable finale performance!

Approximately 200 students will be in the building during the day on Tuesday, January 7 to go through rehearsal and then the performance in the evening. Volunteer support is needed to act as room monitor. You will be stationed in one location. Groups will come and go from your spot. You are there to receive the groups to your location, give them a 10 minute warning for when they need to move on and make sure they are pointed in the right direction to the next space. The 5th graders will have adults with each group that will actually move them. We just need representation at each space to greet the groups as they come and go.
