FKPL receives donations of books on a daily basis from the community. We need volunteers to help sort book donations by subject matter so that books can be shelved by subject in the Friends Bookstore. Training will be provided.

Mission Statement
1) To perpetuate the values of Kalamazoo Public Library and to encourage its use. 2) To operate a bookstore which provides low-cost quality reading materials to the community. Proceeds from sales are gifted to the KPL.
Description
The Friends of Kalamazoo Public Library (FKPL) is an independent, nonprofit organization which supports and promotes the library. Sales from the Friends Bookstore, membership dues, and monetary gifts support many KPL programs and services, including:
- Summer Reading Challenge
- Reading Together
- KPL Scholarships
- Ready to Read
- The Global reading Challenge

- Scheduling is very flexible. Volunteers can work any hours that the library is open.
- Physical requirements included:the ability to stand and bend while working, and the strength to lift heavy boxes and push heavy carts. Must be able to read English.
