During these uncertain times, how can we help?

The Center for Whitley County Youth
After-School Central, (also known as "ASC) is designed to partner with parents by providing a FREE, safe and supervised after-school education, enrichment, and recreation program for middle school students in the Whitko School District. Our staff works in conjunction with a team of adult community volunteers and High School Volunteers to provide a balance of recreation, education, and enrichment through the daily structure of activities. Free snacks are provided daily to students, as well as at least an hour of free (recreational) time. Education and enrichment happens during "Options" and "Homework Time," two 30-minute blocks of time for various opportunities, including homework help or creativity classes. Creativity classes vary from week to week, but include art classes, service projects, guitar lessons, small group discussions and a variety of other activities.
HS Volunteers would work with ASC staff to assist with concessions, homework help, supervision, service projects and creativity classes, and various other projects and responsibilities. HS Volunteers have regular opportunities to develop skills, gain knowledge and experiences, and have fun at the same time! It's a great experience and resume builder!
We are looking for HS students who will volunteer one afternoon each week (3:15-5:45PM) during the school year.

Healthy young people don't just happen. They are taught, they are led, they are loved. That's why we are passionate about working with local middle and high school students and nudging them toward strong caring relationships, good character, positive recreation, educational and service opportunities, and spiritual development. We invest in our kids by meeting them at the center of their lives, in the whirlwind of activities that are described on this site.
The Governor's Commission for a Drug-Free Indiana recently recognized The Center for its impact on Whitley County (read press release here). This story is actually the story of many students whose lives have been touched by the life-changing work of The Center.
Because The Center's mission is so important to students, we do not charge fees for participation. Our programs are funded entirely by contributions. Less than 1% percent of The Center's support comes in the form of government funding.
Collaboration --by providing a facility for, and partnering with like-minded youth organizations
We'll work with your schedule.
