Want to share your love of animals while inspiring youth? Become a Critter Camp Counselor at the Santa Fe Animal Shelter!

We are seeking Volunteer Camp Counselors to lead youth, ages 6-13, through our organization’s day camp programs. Critter Camp is a vital program that teaches youth about animal care in fun and inventive ways. Visit this link to learn more about our Critter Camp Program: http://sfhumanesociety.org/our-programs/critter-camp/

The Counselors, under the direction of the Camp Host, are responsible for group and behavior management as well as guiding campers in humane education activities. The Counselors will co-supervise the campers while they interact with animals, listen to guest speakers and participate in educational games.

The Camp Host will provide resources and guest speakers so the curriculum has some structure, but still allows for creative activities based on the included topics. This is an excellent opportunity for people interested in child education or who have retired from a teaching position and have time to volunteer.

If you are interested in pursuing this as an internship for an organization, please provide requirements and contact information. We can provide you with letters of reference and hours served even if you are seeking an independent internship arrangement.

Thank you for your interest in this amazing opportunity!

Description

Since 1939, Santa Fe Animal Shelter has been dedicated to its mission to support animals, save lives, and spread compassion.

We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our federal tax ID # is 85-6000484.

Santa Fe Animal Shelter focuses on accessible spay and neuter programs in an effort to beat animal population at its core. Creative adoption efforts and dozens of programs provide support for marginalized animals and work to place homeless animals into loving families.

Thanks to a partnership with the City of Santa Fe and the Bureau of Land Management, the main shelter is housed on a 100-acre campus complete with walking trails and play yards for daily enrichment for our Shelter residents, as well as single and multi-use public dog parks.

Come visit our facilities to experience how Santa Fe cares for its animals. The shelter is not just a place to adopt an animal or to find a missing one, but a place to visit over and over again. This is your shelter, built by this community - a place to find joy with companions.
