Connect Volunteer

Juvenile Court of Memphis and Shelby County is seeking volunteers to assist with redirecting the lives of juveniles in our community. The Auxiliary Probation Service (APS)-Summons Division consists of dedicated individuals who facilitate counseling sessions with juveniles who receive a summons by law enforcement.

As an in-house summons counselor, you would hold conferences with juveniles who receive a summons to appear in Court. These juveniles would be first to fifth time offenders who have committed a misdemeanor offense such as:

  • Disorderly Conduct
  • Simple Assault
  • Theft of Property under $1000
  • Criminal Trespass
  • Vandalism under $1000
  • Gambling
  • Simple Possession of Marijuana

During the summons conference you will review the arrest ticket, counsel the juvenile and document any observations during the conference.

Our volunteers create their own schedule. In-house summons counseling may be conducted during the morning or afternoon.

We look forward to hearing from you and hope you will join us as we work to make a difference in the lives of youth in Memphis and Shelby County.
