Catholic Charities Merrimack Valley, located in Lowell, is seeking a Basic Needs Assistant. Duties include: returning calls to persons looking for rent/utility funds, completing pre-screening forms, and scheduling approved clients for appointments. Assistant would monitor voicemails, return call to clients, and update client files with case notes from client calls.
Catholic Charities serves those who are challenged with meeting their most basic needs. We embrace each family and work with them to create a plan to achieve self-sufficiency, giving back some of the choices that they lost along the way.
The ideal person for this job is comfortable with computers, pays attention to detail and has patience dealing with persons who, potentially, could be in crisis mode. Additionally, the volunteer must adhere to the agency’s strict confidentiality policy. A plus is if the volunteer is bilingual in both English and Spanish, but it's not a requirement.
Training will be provided. Assistant will work closely with Catholic Charities Basic Needs Case Manager.
Catholic Charities Merrimack Valley is accessible by public transportation (Lowell commuter train and a ten minute walk) or car. Free parking is provided in the back of the building.
This volunteer opportunity has flexible hours during business hours (Monday-Friday; 9:00AM-5:00PM) - schedule to be mutually agreed upon (15 hours a week).
