Weekly, every Tuesday, we need help playing with kids! Jeremiah Program supports single moms and their kids on the path toward breaking the cycle of poverty. Empowerment is the 11 week first step that moms take to start their journey with us. We need reliable volunteers to come hang with kids, play, do activities, and do some light homework help. Kids ages are 7 months up to 15 years, with most in the 2-6 year range.

Mission Statement

The Jeremiah Program helps low-income single mothers and their children transition from poverty to prosperity, two generations at a time.

Description

Jeremiah Program offers one of the nation’s most successful strategies for transforming families from poverty to prosperity two generations at a time. Jeremiah prepares determined single mothers to excel in the workforce, readies their children to succeed in school, and reduces generational dependence on public assistance.

Jeremiah’s proven, holistic approach begins with establishing a supportive community for determined single mothers to pursue a career-track college education. Through a combination of quality early childhood education, a safe and affordable place to live, and empowerment and life skills training, their families are stabilized and able to find a path out of poverty.

Jeremiah Program is headquartered in Minneapolis. The organization has two fully operational sites-in Minneapolis and St. Paul-that serve 300 women and children annually. Housing for four families opened in Austin, TX, in fall 2013, and ground will be broken in late 2015 on an expanded campus to serve 35 families. In addition, Jeremiah is conducting pilot programs with Endicott College in Boston, and leaders in Fargo, ND-Moorhead, MN, are working to establish a campus in their community.
