Rooting DC is a FREE, all-day urban gardening forum that provides education about urban agriculture and food systems, cultivates health and protection of the environment, and builds community. The program includes dozens of interactive workshops, cooking and food preservation demonstrations, and panel discussions. The event hosts 60+ green businesses and non-profits from throughout the region at an Information Fair. Sign up to volunteer at www.dcgreens.volunteerhub.com.

We need over 75 volunteers to help keep this event free & accessible to the DMV community! Volunteer roles include registration, hall monitors and workshop runners. You can sign up to volunteer at www.dcgreens.volunteerhub.com!

This year's event will take place on Saturday, February 29th from 9:00am - 4:00pm at Ron Brown College Preparatory High School (4800 Meade St NE, Washington, DC 20019). Ron Brown is located in the Deanwood neighborhood of NE Washington DC, two blocks from the Deanwood Metro (orange line). It is also within walking distance of the W4 and U4 MetroBus lines.

Mission Statement

DC Greens uses the power of partnerships to support food education, food access, and food policy in the nation’s capital.

DC Greens exists to facilitate productive partnerships, create and replicate best practices, and empower existing actors to better serve our at-risk neighbors. We are a conduit of targeted expertise that works to connect our diverse target populations in the creation and management of efficient, innovative solutions. Many individuals and organizations are already working hard to strengthen our city. We work across multiple nodes of the food system to provide the connections, resources, tools, and information needed to work smarter.
