Residential Hospice is looking for volunteers with certified pet therapy dogs to visit our patients on Hospice care. Hospice pet therapy utilizes the natural bond between humans and animals to bring joy, humor, love, and companionship to those on the end-of-life journey. Pet therapy benefits patients by giving them reduced feelings of loneliness and anxiety and also encourages patients to socialize. As a volunteer you have the chance to witness the amazing impact a dog can have on the lives of others. This opportunity also gives your dog important work to do, where it will receive lots of loving attention.

We aspire to be the leading provider of hospice services for people in Michigan and Illinois with a life-limiting illness. We are committed to equipping our highly trained and dedicated employees with all of the resources necessary to provide extraordinary care and service. Residential Hospice provides an individualized program of physical, emotional, spiritual, social, and practical care for people in the last phases of a life-limiting illness, with an emphasis on control of pain and other symptoms. The program is reflective of a spirit and idea of caring that emphasizes comfort and dignity for the dying, making it possible for them to remain independent for as long as possible in familiar surroundings. Hospice care is centered on both the patient and family/caregivers. Hospice personnel respect and respond without discrimination, to the unique differences in patients and family/caregivers and their lifestyle, values, and wishes.
Residential Hospice provides a team of specially-trained professionals and volunteers to provide care, comfort, support and dignity to patients and families when their illness no longer responds to cure-oriented treatments.
