ORGANIZATION: SOUTHERN MAINE AGENCY ON AGING

Volunteers will pick up donated food from the Hannaford grocery store in Westbrook, ME as part of a collaboration with the Good Shepherd Food Bank.

After pick-up, volunteers will bring donated food to Larrabee Village and place it on the tables in the community room. Other tasks may include weighing the donated food, and overseeing the Monday morning distribution of food. Help clean up by wiping down tables and discarding extra boxes. On-going training will be provided by experienced volunteers and/or staff.

Must have a valid driver’s license and current up-to date car insurance. Must be able to pass a background check and driving-record check.

Please note that this opportunity takes place every Monday from 6:45-9:30AM.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR COMMUNITY!

Southern Maine Agency on Aging Volunteer Services provides opportunities to make a difference in the community through volunteer service. Volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, serving through schools, meals on wheels, hospitals and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. We offer maximum flexibility and choice to our volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of the over age 55 volunteer to opportunities in selected imapct service areas to help solve community problems. RSVP volunteers receive supplemental insurance while on duty, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where they are placed.
