The Pelican Community Center and Lutheran Church is looking to add 6 additional instructors to teach English at our center. We have a large Hispanic population attending our classes. If you are bi-lingual, this would be beneficial for us.

Classes are held on TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY EVENINGS FROM 6:30-800 P.M. AND ON THURSDAY MORNINGS FROM 10:00 - 11:30 A.M.

Mission Statement

The Pelican Community Center's mission is to serve those in the multi-ethnic communities within Golden Gate/Naples/Collier County by providing a safe, comfortable and welcoming place for everyone. To provide language development and literacy classes, conversational Spanish classes, and to strengthen families by providing fellowship, companionship, encouragement and fun.

Description

The Pelican Community Center and Lutheran Church provides a personalized and unique experience for children and adults with weekly English classes and conversational Spanish classes. Our goal is to serve children and adults to achieve independence and empowerment through literacy. In addition the center works with individuals to assist in their successful path to citizenship. Most of the families we serve are at the poverty level. The language barrier is a main factor that limits the opportunity for employment. A secondary factor is caused by the waiting period for obtaining work permits, social security numbers, etc.
