Animal Help Now

Animal Help Now (AHNow) is seeking a Senior Android Developer to join the organization's Android team in supporting and improving the world's premier wildlife emergency app.

Candidates should be familiar with Android Studio, have Java experience, be familiar with the Android Activity lifecycle, and be willing to work collaboratively in GitHub with other developers. An interest in Kotlin is a plus.

Responsibilities include adding new features, fixing defects, troubleshooting and general maintenance. The Android programmers are members of the AHNow tech team. The tech team consists of developers, technology experts, and the organization’s executive director. The team occasionally meets online (GoTo) for 30-60 minutes.

AHNow is available on four platforms - desktop/laptop web, handheld web, iOS and Android.

AHNow is a volunteer-based organization.

AHNow is the world's leading wildlife 911 app. AHNow assists with tens of thousands of wildlife emergencies across the United States each year, helping compassionate people who encounter wildlife in need - a bird who has struck a window, an orphaned litter of bunnies, a deer struck by a vehicle, a beached dolphin, etc. - find immediate and effective assistance.

AHNow also assists people who need help with a wildlife conflict (skunks under the porch, birds in the attic, etc.).

Animal Help Now educates the public on how to mitigate threats to wildlife and all animals.

Animal Help Now is a volunteer-driven organization. Our volunteers - including most of our tech team members - combined devote more than 200 hours per month. AHNow gives first priority to its volunteers when hiring paid positions.
