Our mission of is to embrace the potential of all women and girls by providing them with positive influences, learning opportunities, community partnerships and leadership development. We do this through an intentional curriculum that creatively integrates mindfulness, service learning and social emotional skills. In Her Shoes

Our Core Programs include:

  • Ready Set Girls Academy (RSGA) Program

Our structured curriculum empowers young girls and provides them with essential life skills and coping techniques. We improve their self-esteem and encourage them to reach for higher achievement. This program has a middle school version, a high school version and is delivered in schools and community organizations.

The curriculum is designed to provide participants with a safe and caring learning environment where they can learn the life skills that will allow them to excel in life. The goal of this program is to give young girls the tools they need to explore who they are and who they want to become!

In each lesson we aim to improve their self-esteem and encourage them to reach for higher achievement. The program is free and available for high schools, middle schools, and community organizations. We provide all the materials and volunteer Group Mentors who run the program. We make our lessons very interactive. We find that the girls gain a lot from sharing their experiences and listening to each other. Our trained and experienced volunteer Group Mentors provide a safe and caring learning environment. They encourage the girls to discuss a different topic in each session including but not limited to problem solving, effective communication, healthy living, anger management, life-school balance, responsible choice-making and using social media constructively.

Here is what a couple of students had to say about us:

" I graduated the IHSF, RSGA while I was attending Baker College Prep where the program was delivered. This program has helped me in so many ways. RSGA has allowed me to flourish into the young lady that I am today by giving me the tools to effectively communicate, advocate and stand up for myself. Through this program, I was able to build me self -esteem and confidence." Student of RSGA, 2018

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"I am so grateful for the skills I have learned and am now able to use in my everyday life. Through RSGA I’ve learned new coping skills, like how to communicate more effectively how to control my anger and even had a chance to polish up a few of my old ones. I’ve learned to agree to disagree. To speak up! Because my opinions matter! Without the outlet of RSGA, I wouldn’t be as assertive and outspoken as I am today." Student of RSGA, 2018

  • Ready Set Women Academy (RSWA) Program The purpose of this program is to promote positive, professional and personal growth for adult women. Topics range from leadership to career development and advancement. There are two versions Beginner and Advanced.

Description

A NOTE FROM OUR FOUNDER
In Her Shoes Foundation has over 60 committee volunteers who run this organization on a daily basis, in addition to working their full-time jobs and fulfilling their everyday obligations as parents, spouses, siblings, daughters - or sons and friends. When I founded this foundation in 2008 we originally called it The Positive Girls Club. It was envisioned as an organization that would support women of all ages who were determined to make positive changes in their lives. I started hosting monthly professional development workshops to inspire, connect, educate, and support the women in our community. Today, over 10 years later, we’re now known as In Her Shoes Foundation, and our flagship program, Ready Set Girls Academy, is exceeding our goals year over year for reaching young women preventatively. This curriculum-based program is run by our volunteer group mentors and is being delivered within public and private high schools. In addition we partnered with multiple community organization who support our initiative.

Today, we are achieving our vision of empowering and inspiring every woman and girl to be her personal best. We currently have three programs and hope to expand in the next couple of years.
