Regional Food Bank Backpack Program Although free and reduced breakfast and lunch programs provide significant nutritional benefits to students during the school day, many disadvantaged children do not have access to regular meals when school is not in session. The BackPack Program helps alleviate child hunger by discreetly providing hungry children with backpacks full of nutritious and easy-to-prepare food on Friday afternoons so they have food to eat throughout the weekend. CMA is fortunate to have developed a partnership with Wildwood's workforce development program, which means starting in December a team of Wildwood clients will be packing and delivering the 15 backpacks each Friday!
The Cohoes Back Pack program is currently serving 15 elementary school students. CMA's goal is to expand to 45 students in all 5 Cohoes schools by September of 2019.
