ORGANIZATION: Womankind, Rising Above Violence

Womankind works with survivors of gender-based violence to rise above trauma and build a path to healing. We bring critical resources and deep cultural competency to help Asian communities find refuge, recovery and renewal from domestic violence, human trafficking, and sexual violence.

We are seeking a volunteer who can provide Creole interpretation for our clients. Interpretation can be provided in person or over the phone. The volunteer must have availability once a week for an hour anytime between the following:

  • Tuesday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
  • Wednesday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
  • Thursday from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

Description

Womankind brings critical resources and deep cultural competency to help survivors of all ages find refuge, recovery, and renewal from domestic violence, human trafficking, and sexual violence. Through our programs, we offer a wide variety of services in 18+ Asian languages and dialects, including: a toll-free 24/7 multilingual helpline, safe and confidential emergency housing, culturally-informed counseling, family law and immigration legal assistance, wellness activities, creative arts therapy, support groups, and economic empowerment workshops. We are an expert in serving Asian communities, yet our services are valuable and available to all. Whether in our services or in our increasing advocacy and policy work, Womankind first centers the survivor by uplifting them to control their own lives and narratives.
