Girls on the Run is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams.

Our Southeastern Michigan organization covers 5 counties, including Washtenaw, Livingston, Lenawee, Monroe, and Jackson, and serves almost 2,000 girls from the 3rd through 8th grade. At the end of a 10 week after-school program, girls participate in a celebratory untimed 5K event and learn about goal accomplishment and making the seemingly impossible possible.

To make this event successful, we need many volunteers. Volunteer positions include:
-Course marshals
-Registration workers
-Set-up and clean-up
-Hospitality positions
-Finish line/ medal hand-out

Description

Girls on the Run is a non-profit organization that envisions a world where every girl* knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams! The ten-week long program for teams of 8-15 participants in 3rd - 8th grade meets weekly for 90 minutes with volunteer coaches (trained by certified GOTR staff) from your community, and combines training for a site-based 5K with a research-based curriculum that promotes critical social-emotional skills at a time when girls need it the most.

*Girls on the Run is a program for all girls: cis-, trans-, gender-nonconforming, and non-binary people who are comfortable in spaces that center the experience of girls. Our council is dedicated to every participant having the same high-quality experience.
