Can you imagine being unable to read this website, a street sign, directions on a bottle of medicine, or even a note from your child's teacher? Have you ever wanted to make a real difference in the life of an area adult? By volunteering with the Literacy Council of Northern Virginia, you can change the lives of adults who want to develop the basic reading, writing, and English speaking skills necessary to be successful members of our communities.

LCNV is seeking volunteers for its English Conversation Class in Chantilly. Volunteers will work one-on-one or in small groups with adult learners to practice vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, and basic conversation skills. Reference materials and supplies will be provided.

Volunteers must be over the age of 18 and fluent in English. No prior teaching experience is necessary.

  • Must be at least 18
  • This conversation class will meet on Tuesday and Thursday evenings (6:30-8pm) from February 12th to April 25th. Volunteers must be able to serve at least one evening per week.
