ICSA Swim Meet at Millbrook Aquatic Center

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Raleigh Parks Volunteer Services Program

** IN ORDER TO REGISTER AS A VOLUNTEER FOR THIS EVENT YOU MUST EMAIL MARY.OWENS@RALEIGHNC.GOV AND SHE WILL SEND YOU THE LINK.**

This is a typical swimming competition between the city teams that are part of the ICSA. They will be competing against each other, as well as the clock, for the best times in each stroke as well as two relay events and the Individual Medley.

Volunteer Duties: Volunteers can register for one of three duties:

-Timer - timing swimmers and recording their times.
-Runner - taking cards to timers/picking cards up from timers and giving to scorers.
-Ribbon Writers - writing on the backs of ribbons based on the times of swimmers.

Impact: Volunteers will be contributing to their city by facilitating competitive swimming which includes team building, swimming skills and a sense of ownership of city facilities and programs. Swim teams also develop young people and teach them valuable life skills for adulthood.

Work Environment: Volunteers will be in a pool environment (inside) which will be warm and humid. Being comfortable around water is a must even though volunteers will not actually be in the pools. Volunteers must be comfortable with large crowds and noise from competition. Volunteers will be standing and active the entire time. There are restrooms on site.

Volunteer Requirements: The minimum age for volunteering is 14 years old. All volunteers will need to complete a volunteer release form (for volunteers under the age of 18 a parent/guardian will need to sign the volunteer form).

Special Instructions: We will supply everything needed for all volunteer jobs at the swim meet. Volunteers should wear cool, loose fitting clothes as they will be inside a warm, steamy pool environment. It is recommended to bring a water bottle.

Group Registration Information: Registration as a volunteer is first come, first served. If you are interested in registering as a group, please use the "Register as a Group" button. You will then need to email mary.owens@raleighnc.gov the names of the volunteers from your organization who plan on attending. This is to ensure groups are not reserving spots that they do not have actual volunteers for.

Per department policy, this volunteer opportunity is not to be used towards court-appointed/ suggested community service hours.
