Do you believe access to health care is a right, not a privilege? With Virginia's Medicaid expansion 400,000 more Virginians are eligible to apply for benefits this year. You can help individuals navigate the screening eligibility guidelines and assist those who qualify in completing their Medicaid application. NVFS will be hosting health literacy & Medicaid enrollment events throughout the Northern Virginia region with the goal of serving 800 people. We can't achieve this without volunteer support though and that's where you come in!
Duties:
- Attend a Medicaid application training. You can sign up for free public trainings here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/free-workshop-how-to-help-residents-apply-for-medicaid-and-famis-programs-tickets-54655541195
- Sign up to volunteer at NVFS enrollment events (volunteer shifts are 2 hours; volunteers must commit to assist at a minimum of three events total).
- Meet individually with clients to screen them for eligibility; if client isn't eligible, explain why.
- Walk through the application process with clients who do qualify to help them understand, complete and submit their application forms.
Note: Enrollment Events will be weekday day times, weekday evenings and weekend day times at various locations throughout Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William counties.
