Columbus’ Finest Young Professional program recognizes the city’s most active young professionals and philanthropists for their efforts supporting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s work to develop ways to control and cure cystic fibrosis.

At the Columbus’ Finest Finale on March 14, 2019 these honorees, along with their colleagues, friends, and families, will gather to celebrate one another’s accomplishments at the Vue in Columbus’ Brewery District.

The event includes food and drink tastings from local restaurants, live music, and a silent auction before we announce the 2018-19 Columbus’ Finest Award winner!

Now that you have an overall idea of that this event is all about, here are the tasks we need your help with!
Set Up Volunteers- volunteers to arrive at the event venue a little over an hour before the event start time to help us set up for the evening. Set up consists of unloading auction items, registration materials, etc from staff member's cars into the venue and helping us set them up. This does not usually take very long when we have a few people to help.
Greeters- Volunteers to stand by the entrance of the event to greet guests as they come in and to direct them to the registration area. These volunteers are responsible for conversing with the guests and thanking them for coming. Also explain to the guests that we'll be using mobile bidding for this event.
Registration/Check Out Volunteers- our registration and check out process is all computerized in a user friendly system. We give you a brief training before the start of the event. This role is ideal for those who are comfortable on computers.
Mobile Bidding Floaters- people to be centralized to our silent auction area of the event with iPads (provided) to help guests with placing mobile bids on items if they need assistance or don't want to use their own phone for bidding. A brief training before the start of the event is provided for this role as well.
Auction Item Movers and Organizers- Volunteers to help bring the auction items from where they are set up over to the checkout area for the winners to easily gather at the end of the night. These volunteers will stay by the items and confirm that the correct winners are getting their items on their way out.
Food Serving- These volunteers will be stationed at a food table and will hand out samples to the people that stop by the table. Gloves will be provided and must be worn per our infection control policy. Volunteers will hand the guests their food and be sure that the guests are not grabbing them themselves also per our infection control policy.
Restaurant Tree- At this station, we have a number of gift cards to local restaurants all at a minimum value and above. If a guests wants to participate, they pay the amount that the lowest gift card costs and they pick a random gift card from the tree (the gift cards are wrapped so they have no idea what they're getting!) They either get a gift card for the same amount they paid or they'll get a gift card for more than what they paid. Volunteers at this event station will be responsible for having guests fill out the restaurant tree slips that states who bought a gift card and how many they purchased. Volunteers will make sure that the guests aren't trying to peak or return cards once they open their choice. They are not allowed a redo.
Dueling Pianos- Volunteers will be responsible for collecting the two-part filled out slips from guests with their song requests for the dueling pianos group and putting the song request side in the basket at the pianos and the other side of the slip should be held onto until a staff member collects them.
Tear Down- All volunteers are expected to stay to help with the clean up/tear down of the evening. This event has a very minimal tear down process. Our tear down consists of packing up the registration computers and related materials, loading any left over auction items into staff members cars.

This event is such a fun one to be a part of! The venue is beautiful and because it's a smaller scale event, you are really a part of the action the entire evening :)

Additional Event Details-
Dress Code- business casual (what you would typically wear to work at an office job)
Parking- there is a parking lot across the street from the venue. If you park in this lot, you may need to pay a parking fee. Street parking is also available.
Food- we provide volunteers pizza (if you have food restrictions, please let me know ahead of time) before the event starts.

You don't have to have a personal connection to cystic fibrosis (CF), nor do you need to know what cystic fibrosis is to volunteer for this event. We are just happy to have your help! (Please note however, that if you have CF we have to politely ask you to not volunteer for this event due to our infection control policy as we already have somebody with CF that will be in attendance.)

More need to know details will be sent to you if you choose this volunteer opportunity.
