Our Newark Westside Corps needs a receptionist to welcome visitors, by greeting them in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries. Directs visitors by maintaining employee and department directories; giving instructions.
If you are interested and available to volunteer between the hours of 9am-1pm (or later) M-F please email njvounteers@salvationarmy.org.
Newark Westside Corps is located at 699 Springfield Ave, Newark, NJ 07103 and offers the following programs and services:
Sunday worship
Sunday and week-day Christian education
Computer instruction for individuals of all ages
Emergency food pantry
Youth and young adult recreational programs
Life skills classes for teens and young adults
Spiritual counseling
Licensed after-school program
Mission: Literacy classes for young readers
Seasonal Assistance
The Newark Westside Corps is also home to the Essex County Grandfamily Success Center - a multi-service program for grandparents and relative caregivers. Services include but are not limited to:
Social and recreational programs for the caregivers
After-school and summer day camp for their children
Kinship Navigator and Wrap-around services
Legal guardianship
Case management and counseling
Seasonal assistance
Support groups and educational programs for caregivers
Emergency assistance

Description
The Salvation Army New Jersey Division has been assisting New Jersey residents since 1880. Services and programs include food for the hungry, companionship to the elderly and ill, clothing and shelter for the homeless, food pantry/feeding programs, opportunities for underprivileged children, relief for disaster victims, assistance for the disabled and many more services for those in need.
The Salvation Army New Jersey Division currently has 28 Corps Worship & Community Centers throughout the State, 65 Service Units, adult rehabilitation centers, a residential camp and an active Emergency Disaster Services program.
