We at Opera NOVA, a local, Arlington-based opera company, are looking for a volunteer with great writing skills. We need someone who can write acknowledgements of thanks to all our donors. It is important that we do so in order to continue our relationships with these supporters and further provide our community with the arts. The commitment length will be around 2 hours a week and more opportunities to serve are available if interested. A background in the performing arts is a plus but not necessary. With the acknowledgements, the volunteer will be provided with the donors’ contact information to streamline the writing process. You will meet wonderful people, work for a wonderful cause, and be introduced to our cause of providing arts to the underserved! Questions? Interested? Contact the Opera NOVA office at (703) 536-7557, or email us at mcdm1@verizon.net.

About Opera NOVA

Mission Statement
Opera NOVA works to bring the joy of opera to the local community and develop regional support for the performing arts by fostering an appreciation for local theater across generations.
Description
Opera NOVA was founded in 1992 as a volunteer-based, non-profit charitable organization to bring the joy of opera to the local community and develop regional support for the performing arts by fostering an appreciation for local theater across generations.
The Guild is incorporated in the Commonwealth of Virginia and has been recognized by the IRS as a 501 (c) (3) entity.
Over the years, Opera NOVA has offered major financial support for an annual family opera that is attended by school children during week day performances and by children with their families and community-based organizations on weekends. Because of our efforts, 50,000 school-aged children, many of whom would not have the opportunity otherwise, have attended an opera. The performances not only offer children a unique opportunity to hear an opera sung in English, but they also learn about various opera and theatre techniques, from special effects to the intricacies of set and lighting design.
