Mission Statement

The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. It's message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.

Description

The Salvation Army in Blue Point provides emergency social services to residents of Suffolk County. Individuals and families requiring assistance are seen in our Blue Point Office as well as several other remote sites throughout Western and Central Suffolk. We provide emergency food, clothing, and financial assistance when discretionary funds are available. We deliver monthly food boxes and Christmas gifts to several Senior Citizen programs throughout Suffolk County. Over 200 Thanksgiving baskets are delivered throughout the County.

During the Christmas season, we provide toys for Children through our large Angel Tree Program, and connect families together with Companies through our Adopt-A-Family program.

We send children and seniors to camp every summer to Star Lake Camp in Bloomingdale, New Jersey. When the children return, each of the families receives tickets for our night with the Long Island Ducks, and backpacks with back-to-school supplies.

In order to provide these services, our office puts on several special events each year, in addition to the highly-visible Red Kettle Fund-Raising Drive.
