The Eldon & Elsie Ward Family YMCA is holding a free community event to inspire more kids to keep their minds and bodies active all summer long. Healthy Kids Day(r), the Y’s national initiative to improve families’ health and well-being, features a full day’s worth of fun and activities for the whole family, including: games, obstacle courses, volleyball, , community vendors, fitness classes, entertainment, arts and crafts and more to motivate and teach families how to develop healthy routines at home.
One in three U.S. children is obese, and when summertime hits, kids will be more idle. Research shows that without access to out-of-school physical and learning activities, kids fall behind academically and gain weight twice as fast during summer than the school year. Healthy Kids Day is an opportunity for the community to focus on what kids need to grow and achieve all summer long.

Our Strength is in CommunityThe Y is a nonprofit like no other. That’s because in 10,000 neighborhoods across the nation, we have the presence and partnerships to not just promise, but deliver, positive change.
- The Y is community centered. For nearly 160 years, we’ve been listening and responding to our communities.
- The Y brings people together. We connect people of all ages and backgrounds to bridge the gaps in community needs.
- The Y nurtures potential. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.
- The Y has local presence and global reach. We mobilize local communities to effect lasting, meaningful change.
With a mission to serve the whole community through programs expressing Judeo-Christian principles that build a healthy spirit, mind and body, our impact is felt when an individual makes a healthy choice, when a mentor inspires a child and when a community comes together for the common good.
