What’s better than a smile, a hug, and some companionship? Heartland Hospice needs your help providing companionship to patients and their families. New volunteers are needed to join our group of seasoned volunteers. Volunteers can bring fresh flowers, read to patients, play music, or flip through pictures of loved ones. Heartland Hospice Volunteers spend time with only one or two residents to develop a more personal relationship and hold their time with the residents very close to their heart.
In addition to helping those in need, volunteering can also help you. Medical professionals have found social, emotional and physical benefits to volunteering, such as building self-esteem, alleviating loneliness, and reducing stress.
There is always a need for volunteers. Anyone interested in volunteering should reach out to Jamie Rhew (jamie.rhew@hcr-manorcare.com) or Laura Scott (laura.scott@hcr-manorcare.com) at 810-230-1318.
