We are seeking a Volunteer who loves sports and is a highly-motivated, versatile attorney to become a critical member of a non-profit academic/athletics development institution. Acting as the attorney for the Jersey Coast Prep Academy Advisory Board (" JCPAAB "), the position will include a significant amount of cross-functional interaction between all functions within the corporation, including the company’s land-use, regulatory, services, practices, employees, contractors, vendors, finance functions, and other projects. This vision accomplishing, mission-driven empire is expanding!

A successful Counsel must provide top-level legal advice, risk mitigation strategies, and project management insight while also serving as a value-added member to the company’s higher education, sports training, and marketing blueprints aligned in achieving the company’s strategic goals. As such, the successful candidate must demonstrate a high level of knowledge and experience in intercollegiate sports, excellent business sense and judgment, well developed analytical problem-solving abilities, a strong aptitude for operating as a commercial and education attorney within regulated industries.

The Counsel will also advise and support JCPA Executive Board in the resolution of critical business issues based on an evaluation and analysis of associated legal risks, and will have significant interaction with senior representatives from our clients, vendors, and strategic partners. This individual will be expected to work on complex issues requiring in-depth evaluation of legal and business issues, and must be willing and able to tackle a variety of projects simultaneously and meet demanding deadlines. The Counsel will report to the company’s Executive Director. This opportunity located in New Jersey, where Jersey Coast Prep Academy has a corporate office. Flexible and ceative work arrangements available.

Responsibilities: - Review, draft, negotiate and administer a variety of ordinary course and complex business transactions and contracts, including professional services agreements and technology transactions with clients, subcontractor agreements, - Communicate and negotiate proactively with clients to resolve discrepancies and disagreements effectively - Interact with the athletic, education, and finance teams to understand and ensure consistency with the business and financial requirements and objectives in all contracts - Keep regulatory developments in higher regards to help ensure compliance with regulatory requirements - Ensure timely, high-quality analysis and advice on legal and business issues to internal clients - Advise on commercial and other general business legal matters - Engage in and lead various other legal projects and duties, including compliance matters, as assigned

Qualifications: - Minimum of 4 years of practical legal experience with substantial client contact - JD and active state bar membership in good standing preferred - Excellent academic background and a demonstrated record of achievement - Proven ability in contract drafting - Ability to draft complex agreements and contractual provisions - Experience working within the higher education industry

Position starts off on a VOLUNTEER , consulting basis and helps create the basis for upgrading to permanent position once goals are obtained.
