A new Congress is in session. What are you doing to make your voice heard? Don’t wait around to see what members of Congress do - you can help set the agenda.

As members of Congress figure out their priorities, we’re making sure the fight against poverty is on the list.

RESULTS is a movement of passionate, committed, everyday people. Together we use our voices to influence political decisions that will bring an end to poverty.

Join our campaign this winter to help Set the Agenda for the new Congress.

Our goals:

--> Meet with every member of Congress between January - April to promote solutions to poverty.
--> Build relationships with newly elected members of Congress to make sure issues of poverty are a priority for them.
--> Secure life-saving funding for global development programs such as education for girls and kids in conflict affected countries, fighting infectious disease killers, and promoting child survival.
--> Get Congress to respond to the country’s housing crisis, making sure they set aside money to increase access to affordable rental housing for low-income people.

Experience needed:

--> Zero! RESULTS will train you on everything you need to know.

What you will do:

--> Meet with each of your members of Congress one time between January and April 2019 to discuss RESULTS 2019 poverty fighting campaigns.
--> Communicate with each Congressional office twice a month by email or phone.
--> Ask each member to support specific funding and legislation for global & US poverty programs.
--> Extra opportunities: get published in local media, engage others in your community.

Training provided:

--> In-depth RESULTS orientation to gain a better understanding of RESULTS and our mission.
--> Comprehensive issue training to understand pressing issues of poverty in the areas of health, education, & economic opportunity.
-->Advocacy boot-camp covering everything from getting to know your member of Congress to running a face-to-face meeting with a decision maker, and everything in between.

Support provided:

--> Weekly group-based, online training with other advocates from across the country run by experienced RESULTS staff.
--> One-on-one support from RESULTS staff as needed.
--> You’ll also be paired with others in your community when possible to work together

Time commitment:

--> January 2019 - April 2019
--> 1-2 hours per week (flexible)

Change happens because people like you tell your members of Congress what you care about and what they can do about it. It’s up to you, as a constituent, to hold your new members of Congress accountable. It’s up to you to fight for the country and world you want to live in.
