A new Congress is in session. What are you doing to make your voice heard? Don’t wait around to see what members of Congress do - you can help set the agenda.
As members of Congress figure out their priorities, we’re making sure the fight against poverty is on the list.
RESULTS is a movement of passionate, committed, everyday people. Together we use our voices to influence political decisions that will bring an end to poverty.
Join our campaign this winter to help Set the Agenda for the new Congress.
Our goals:
--> Meet with every member of Congress between January - April to promote solutions to poverty.--> Build relationships with newly elected members of Congress to make sure issues of poverty are a priority for them.
--> Secure life-saving funding for global development programs such as education for girls and kids in conflict affected countries, fighting infectious disease killers, and promoting child survival.
--> Get Congress to respond to the country’s housing crisis, making sure they set aside money to increase access to affordable rental housing for low-income people.
Experience needed:
What you will do:
--> Communicate with each Congressional office twice a month by email or phone.
--> Ask each member to support specific funding and legislation for global & US poverty programs.
--> Extra opportunities: get published in local media, engage others in your community.
Training provided:
--> Comprehensive issue training to understand pressing issues of poverty in the areas of health, education, & economic opportunity.
-->Advocacy boot-camp covering everything from getting to know your member of Congress to running a face-to-face meeting with a decision maker, and everything in between.
Support provided:
--> One-on-one support from RESULTS staff as needed.
--> You’ll also be paired with others in your community when possible to work together
Time commitment:
--> 1-2 hours per week (flexible)
Change happens because people like you tell your members of Congress what you care about and what they can do about it. It’s up to you, as a constituent, to hold your new members of Congress accountable. It’s up to you to fight for the country and world you want to live in.

Mission Statement
RESULTS is a movement of passionate, committed everyday people. Together they use their voices to influence political decisions that will bring an end to poverty. Volunteers receive training, support, and inspiration to become skilled advocates. In time, volunteers learn to effectively advise policy makers, guiding them towards decisions that improve access to education, health, and economic opportunity. With every hour of their time, volunteers multiply their impact through the enormous power of advocacy -- whether it’s helping change policy to support millions of families putting food on the table or helping raise billions of dollars for the world’s most vulnerable children. Backed by the in-depth research and legislative expertise of staff, RESULTS advocates realize the incredible power they possess to use their voices to change the world.
Description
For over 40 years, RESULTS and RESULTS Educational Fund have been shining light on critical, effective solutions to poverty. By combining the powerful voices of civic advocates with research and oversight of U.S. anti-poverty efforts at home and abroad, RESULTS has been changing government priorities and people’s lives.
"I saw RESULTS on VolunteerMatch, but I wasn’t sure what advocacy was. Before that, I wasn’t really aware of the way different government policies impacted me. But RESULTS gave me a whole new perspective. I learned that if you want change, first you need to see what members of Congress are doing and build connections." - Yaseer Khanani
"I became an advocate because I wanted to be more involved in an organization that strives to make positive change. I really appreciate how genuine and dedicated everyone is to the RESULTS mission." - Sunjay Menon
"At RESULTS, we advocate for the issues that are close to my heart, like global health, education, and poverty eradication. I get to talk about issues that I witness throughout my professional and personal life. I can effect change by raising my voice." - Shabina Hussein
