This Valentine's Day, open your heart to hospice and become a Hospice Volunteer!

Often our volunteers tell me, "I get more out of being a Hospice Volunteer than I give." If you are ready to explore this way of supporting our community, please request an Introductory Packet , which will have more details about what is involved, than I can post here.

What you should know now is that Holy Redeemer HomeCare and Hospice is a non-profit agency; not all hospices are. Holy Redeemer has also been delivering hospice care for a very long time.

We welcome caring individuals from the community to join our care team as Hospice Volunteers to provide the extras that patients, and their families, need to help them get through their sensitive and difficult time.

The main ways that volunteers help are by providing respite support (so family caregivers have an opportunity to take a break), companionship visits (so patients, and family members, have an opportunity to tell their story to someone new) and, sit vigil (so no one dies alone).

We also invite volunteers to bring with them their special skills to offer our families, like Massage, Healing Touch , and Pet Therapy . We could really use bilingual volunteers, too, especially, those who speak Spanish .

Our hospice services all of Mercer County, but we always have a concentration of patients in Ewing, Hamilton, Hamilton Square, Lawrenceville, Pennington, Titusville and Trenton. In fact, we can especially use a few volunteers who are comfortable visiting the heart of Trenton to support our patients there. However, as a volunteer you will tell us where you are comfortable traveling to .

Volunteers do need to complete a training and other on-boarding background checks. The next training will start in early to mid 2019. For full details request an Introductory Packet . As this Packet is printed, it needs to be mailed, so please provide a mailing address when replying to this post.
