Have fun, do good, and get involved! Join the Green Redmond Partnership in Westside Park for a fun morning of helping the forest and this great park. We’ll be removing invasive weeds to make room for trees and native plants to thrive.

This event has something for everyone: roll up your sleeves and get some exercise, relax from the bustle of your daily grind by spending time under the park’s big trees, feel good knowing you’re helping to care for this neighborhood gem for the community to enjoy, spend quality time volunteering with friends or family, meet new neighbors, and help our environment thrive!

More Information: https://redmond.greencitypartnerships.org/event/35/

What to Bring: A water bottle, a snack if you want one, and tough clothes, and shoes that can get dirty (because they will!), including long pants and a long-sleeved shirt to protect against prickly blackberry. Closed-toed shoes are required: work boots, hiking boots, or running shoes are all fine. Remember to check the weather and bring appropriate layers and rain gear or sun protection as needed.

Where to Meet: From the main entrance to the park, on 156th Ave NE, cross the lawn and meet the group at the trailhead leading into the woods. If you arrive late, follow the trail and find us working!

Where to Park: Plenty of street parking available next to the park along 156th Ave NE and along NE 59th Way.

Are you a volunteer under 18 attending without an adult? Print and bring a signed youth waiver: https://forterra.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Green-Redmond-Vol_Release.pdf

About Forterra

Mission Statement

Forterra's mission is to act with immediacy to protect, enhance and steward our region's most precious resources--its communities and its landscapes. Since 1989, we have been working toward a future in which our children and grandchildren can experience nature in and around our urban environments.

Description

Forterra conserves land by working with individuals, companies and local governments. We strive to maximize the ecological value of land, while meeting the needs of landowners. We may accept land as a donation, purchase it, or transfer it to public ownership. We often serve as a broker to identify and negotiate the most effective ownership to protect important lands. We establish conservation easements to preserve special features. For each and every property, we explore available strategies or create new ones to provide permanent protection. Forterra has established a Conservation Agenda for our region, with specific priorities and methods for each type of landscape. Current initiatives include the protection of working forests on the foothills of the Cascades, and the creation of salmon sanctuaries along our region's highest quality rivers and streams.
