Position Title: 11th Hour Volunteer (No Patient Dies Alone)
Position Type: Patient Services Personnel
Facility: Various homes and facilities in Clark County
Qualifications:
Volunteer duties include but are not limited to:

  • Prior experience or training in a medical setting are helpful
  • Mature, calm person
  • Comfortable with people from all cultures and walks of life
  • Able to tolerate emotional people and deal with various behaviors and personalities
  • Able to function independently
  • Basic computer skills
  • Understands necessity of maintaining confidentiality

Duties and Responsibilities: A basic belief of hospice care is that no one should die alone without the supportive presence of loved ones. 11th Hour Volunteers provide a comforting presence needed by our patients and families in the final hours of life. Patients who have little or no family nearby often find themselves isolated and alone during their last days. A volunteer, who is part of the Aviant Hospice team, can help fill the need for compassion, concern, comfort and a caring gentle touch in the last days or hours when a loved one is not available. 11th Hour Volunteers give the precious gift of being emotionally and mentally present as they honor our patients and make his or her transition from life to death a little easier.
