If you are an early riser and you’d like to help out in a stock room environment, where organization is key, VITAS Healthcare has a volunteer clerk opportunity for you! Male or Female, Working or Retired, Veteran or Civilian, we could use your help.
Our stock room supplies VITAS nurses with the supplies they need to have successful visits to their hospice patients. Currently, it’s a one-man show with the busiest days being Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday starting at 7am. Volunteering for a couple hours on any of those days, or all three, would be great way to help out in a relaxed atmosphere! It’s up to you. Your assistance will help us provide all our hospice patients with much needed supplies as quickly as possible. Join our Volunteer program today. It’s fast, fun and you’ll be making friends while helping others.
VITAS Healthcare recognizes the importance of a strong and innovative program. Volunteers are an integral part of the hospice program, allowing VITAS to continue personalizing, enhancing and expanding services offered to patients and families. By exemplifying the VITAS Values, volunteers serve as patient and family advocates and are proactive in meeting the needs of patients and families. VITAS integrates volunteers into the hospice team by actively recruiting, training, supporting, and creatively utilizing volunteers to meet patient and family needs. Volunteers and their contributions are respected and valued.
Volunteers are the heart of VITAS, providing friendly, non-medical direct patient and family care, such as socialization, companionship, outings, playing music, singing, life reviews, light massage, caregiver relief or bereavement assistance to family and friends. We have special trainings and shadowing opportunities so that you are well equipped to begin your patient care visit in advance.
For those interested in volunteering in an administrative role, we have a place for you too! Non-patient support roles include office assistance via data inputting, filing and making packets or check in calls to patients and caregivers. (Enlist a friend and you come into the office together!) If you're a seamstress, making Memory Bears and other items for patients is welcomed. We are always open to new ideas too! So, just give us a call and we can figure out a way to meet your volunteer goals.
