Are you highly organized? Do you have computer skills? Do you enjoy working with older adults? The SHIBA (Senior Health Insurance Benefits Assistance) program at Good Shepherd Education Center needs a volunteer to assist with providing office support activities. Duties are specific to your comfort level and could include one or more of the following: telephone calls, data entry, scheduling appointments, scanning documents, social media, and help with events and promotions. Office assistant works closely with administrative staff in daily tasks and special projects.
Volunteer hours are flexible: based on your availability and during normal business days, Monday thru Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

SHIBA strives to provide Medicare beneficiaries with a competent, committed and consumer-focused network of staff and volunteers who provide accurate, understandable, and objective education and personalized counseling through innovative state and local community programs.
Description
SHIBA is a statewide network of trained volunteers that helps Medicare beneficiaries understand and make informed choices about their health insurance choices and benefits. The addition of a Medicare's Prescription Drug benefit in 2006, coupled with the aging of the Baby Boomers, creates unprecedented demand for SHIBA volunteer counselors and the volunteer coordinators who oversee them. Counselors help Medicare recipients compare and enroll in prescription drug coverage, decide how they want to get their Medicare benefits (fee-for-service or managed care, for example), read bills and file appeals and grievances.
