Position Title : Event Manager

About DemocracyLab

DemocracyLab helps tech for good projects launch innovative solutions by connecting skilled volunteers to projects that need them. Volunteers are able to use their experiences to build their resumes and portfolios, grow their network, and advance their careers. We are open to projects from individuals, community organizations, non-profits, social purpose companies and government agencies. Our platform helps volunteers give back and develop new skills, while accelerating the evolution of new technologies that empower citizens and help institutions become more accessible, accountable, and efficient. DemocracyLab is optimizing the connection between tech-centric volunteers and tech-for-good projects.

About the Role : We are looking for someone to work closely with our Executive Director to plan and execute our public tech-for-good hackathons and corporate employee engagement events. These events and activities are designed to earn income and build awareness for the organization as well as all DemocracyLab affiliate projects.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Assist and manage event management plans and execution with the DemocracyLab events team.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to prepare and manage program marketing efforts, including digital, social media, and print media.
  • Oversee external vendors, including designers, videographers, or online event companies.

Desired Skills and Experience : Minimum 1-2 years of professional experience with the above skills

Length of Appointment : We request that a volunteer be able to commit a minimum of 3 months to this position.

Time Commitment : We request that a volunteer be willing to commit a minimum of 5 hours per week to this position.

Reports To : Mark Frischmuth, Executive Director for DemocracyLab.

Communication: DemocracyLab uses Slack as its primary form of communication. Files will be shared using Google Drive.
