Twelve years ago, West Chester Public Library began a new seasonal tradition, the Holiday Home Tour, during which generous West Chester homeowners open their beautiful homes to ticket-holders on the first Saturday in December in support of the library. The Tour has grown substantially over the years, drawing more than 800 visitors at times. Revenue from the Holiday Home Tour helps fund programs and services throughout the year, ensuring that our historic library continues to be the one place in town where people of all ages and incomes can access free information, entertainment, education, and inspiration.
A volunteer docent works in one of the Tour homes for a 2 1/2 hour shift--10am to 12:30pm or 12:30pm to 3pm. Docents point out the home's special features, guide flow, answer questions, and monitor visitors.
