The mission of Food For Thought is the elimination of weekend hunger in Denver’s Title 1 elementary schools. Each PowerSack has 9-13 items, enough to feed a family of four 2 meals over the weekend. FFT targets schools where 90% or more of the students are eligible for free and reduced lunch programs (income of a family of four is less than $29K/year to qualify). By providing a Powersack to each child in the school each week, they work to assure that no child goes hungry over the weekend.

WHAT WILL WE BE DOING?

Project Helping volunteers will be assisting Food for Thought at Elkhart Elementary School. We will pack PowerSacks for families to take home for the weekend. Volunteers may help set up assembly lines, pack bags and deliver to the classrooms. As space is limited, make sure to register before participating in this great event!
