ORGANIZATION: BAY AREA CANCER CONNECTIONS

  • 13 people are interested

Bay Area Cancer Connections is a nonprofit organization that supports anyone affected by breast or ovarian cancer with personalized services that inform and empower.

Helpliners play a critical role at Bay Area Cancer Connections. The Helpliner is usually the first point of contact for clients, whether they call, email, or walk in. Helpliners assist clients in navigating through our programs and services and connect them with the helpful resources we offer and what is out in the community.

Helpliners answer phones, emails, and assist clients that walk in. They help clients find resources, help them in our boutique with wigs, hats, and protheses, sign them up for classes and complete other tasks throughout their shift.

We are currently looking for someone that is available Fridays from 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM.

About BAY AREA CANCER CONNECTIONS

Location:

1511 S Claremont St, San Mateo, CA 94402, US

Mission Statement

Bay Area Cancer Connections supports anyone affected by breast or ovarian cancer with personalized services that inform and empower.

Description

It started in October of 1993 when Jill Freidenrich, a breast cancer survivor, and her surgeon, Dr. Ellen Mahoney, dreamt of a community center where breast cancer patients, survivors and family members could turn for medical information and support. As it turns out, this was a dream of many. Bay Area Cancer Connections became a reality due to the hard work and dedication of a part-time director and a determined volunteer force. This amazing community of supporters grew steadily over the years, so much so that in 2013, the same programs and services offered to breast cancer clients were extended to those facing ovarian cancer.

Today BACC continues its mission to support anyone affected by breast or ovarian cancer with personalized services that inform and empower. The backing of generous donors and volunteers has allowed for a range of services. BACC recognizes that every person touched by breast or ovarian cancer experiences the illness differently and therefore continually adapts its programs and services to serve a range of needs, be they emotional, informational, or access to care. Over the past 30 years, BACC has supported over 30,000 people, all at no charge.
