LifeLong Ashby Health Center Volunteer Description

Position:Ashby Hour Volunteer

Preferred Start Date: Monday February 4, 2019 (Monday Orientation, all volunteers will proceed to serve on Tuesdays and Thursdays only)

Required Availability:Tu/Th between 8:30am-2:30pm (Volunteers who can be present for the entire duration are preferred but all candidates who have ANY availability during that time will be considered for the position)

Minimum Requirements:

• Interest in healthcare and/or community organizing
• Highly organized
• Ability to work in fast-paced environment
• Troubleshooting skills
• Willingness to learn
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to speak Spanish/Arabic preferred
  
  

  Responsibilities & Duties:

• Planning for Ashby Hour
• Contacting and coordinating with all donors
• Maintaining inventory
• Picking up, heating, and serving food
• Setup for Ashby Hour
• Community Member Intake
• Supporting resource navigation
• Street Outreach
• Passing out supplies and clothing
• Interacting with community members
• Planning and facilitating activities
• Developing new programming for Ashby Hour
• Registering new patients
• Clean-up for Ashby Hour
• Maintaining data and analysis
  
  

  Position Description:

  LifeLong Medical Care is a Federally Qualified Health Center providing high-quality care to over 61,000 individuals annually in the Bay Area through medical, dental, and social services. The LifeLong Ashby Health Center is one of our many Community Health Centers,

  providing primary care, behavioral health, and social services to the Berkeley and Oakland community.

  Recently, we have started "The Ashby Hour," a community building event every Tuesday and Thursday that provides resources, clothing, supplies, and food to the folks we serve. The program hopes to challenge community engagement in a healthcare.

  We are looking for compassionate, motivated individuals to help us further and facilitate this program. This position is well-suited for anyone passionate about community health, non-profit work, social welfare, and more. We encourage folks from diverse disciplines to apply. Any degree of time commitment is welcome.
