Summer Teen Volunteer Program

Volunteers in our summer teen volunteer program are focused on supporting our Operations and Education programs. They may serve in one of three different areas:

  • Guest Experience Team - These volunteers engage guests in the museum with short presentations at exhibits and other guest service roles.
  • Explorer Camps - Teens serve as classroom assistants in camps for children 4-11 years old. They prepare materials, assist with classroom activities, and escort campers throughout the museum.
  • Space Center University - Teens serve as classroom assistants for our engineering-focused Space U camps. Volunteers for Space U must be at least 15 years old.

NEW! Summer teen volunteers that meet their commitment will be able to volunteer throughout the fall semester at weekend and evening events.

Teen Volunteer Program Requirements
  • Teen volunteers must be no less than 13 years of age by May 30, 2023.
  • Teen volunteers may not be older than 17 years of age by May 30, 2023.
  • Must be available to volunteer for 3 full weeks (Monday - Friday, 8 am to 3:30 pm) between May 30 and August 11. Weeks do not need to be consecutive.
  • Follow all volunteer program and Space Center Houston guidelines
  • Bring an enthusiastic and positive attitude to each volunteer shift
  • Attend an in-person volunteer interview on Saturday, April 1
  • Attend the appropriate Teen Volunteer Orientation:
    • Saturday, May 13 - Explorer Camp and Space U volunteers
    • Saturday, May 20 - Guest Experience Team volunteers
