Teen Line provides an anonymous helpline for youth nationwide. Youth can call, text or email the hotline to talk about their struggles with someone who 'gets it', one of Teen Line's trained teen volunteers, called Listeners. It provides a safe, non-judgmental space for youth to feel validated and understood. Teen Line’s trained Listeners help callers clarify their concerns, define and discuss options available, and provide helpful support resources. The hotline is available to youth every evening from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. PST.
To qualify, you must live in the Los Angeles area, be at least 14 years old and be in or entering the 9th or 10th grade (Fall of 9th grade is the first eligible training period and summer of 10th grade is the last eligible training period).
We have a careful screening process that includes the completion of a 5-page application, and individual and group interviews. Volunteers are unpaid, although you may get community service credit at school.

Mission Statement
Teen Line's mission is to provide peer based education and support to youth before problems become a crisis, using a national hotline, community outreach programs and digital spaces.
Description
Teen Line is a peer-to-peer helpline for teenagers. Highly trained teenage volunteers answer phone calls, text messages, and emails every evening from 6:00pm to 10:00pm PST from youth nationwide who want to 'talk it out' with a peer. They won't judge you or give advice - their job is to listen to and validate your feelings and help come up with a plan together to address your concerns, whether that is trying new ways to cope with stress/anxiety or getting helpful resources. No problem is too small, too large, or too shocking for the TEEN LINE volunteers. Teens can call 800-852-8336 from 6pm to 10pm PST or text "TEEN" to 839863 from 6pm to 9pm PST.
